You are correct in every aspect except one... the art title. The skull represents death and evil in every way possible because the man has no soul so I find him DEAD! Let’s start by stating and accepting as our convention of “Moral and Good” the “Rights of Man” fought for by the framers of the term in France after the bloody revolution
Having that as a background and a compass for good and evil, we can proceed. Yes it’s the big step from solid certainty, but not unreasonable for a civilized society.
It it just possible that aphorisms and attitudes to “NOT being judgmental” as to good and not good and good verses @evil, ( it’s extreme opposite taken to the nth), could very well be, in itself a kind of group “religious” attitude or a societal “fashion” or political correctness.
In Versailles, at the Royal very private Parties, the kings mistress was curtsied to, addresses by name with affection by the guests and no one would ask about the wife who was of course not invited. That is a fashion of behavior for a particular society at a particular time.
We are today told not to be “judgemental”!
Still, I personally don’t feel that a 400 lb person should be even allowed to be sold a triple hamburger and double French fries and a milkshake! So that’s where I come from for extreme cases only.
So, calling out the Republican Party as spineless IS justified when babies are ripped off their mother’s breast at the Southern border: such behavior is triply evil!

- The lack of condemnation by legislators who should protect the international standards in the “Rights of Man”

Asher, I've no problem with the philosophical background presented here. The focus is upon action or inaction by individuals. Any given act or failure to act may be good or bad depending on the criteria used for judgement. But that's not what you wrote earlier. The section I have problems with reads as follows:

Why did these individuals vote for Trump? Here's three reasons among many. (1) Poling guru, Nate Silver, and others point out that very few American voters change party affiliation or political ideology across elections. (2) Also, Hillary Clinton appeared abhorrent to many people. (3) Social media played it's part and Trump exploited (and continues to exploit) that medium far better than his rivals.
To my mind, present-day difficulties concerning liberalism include the following. In earlier times, the proponents of liberalism were predominantly for and often of the working classes. Nowadays, its proponents are for and of the middle classes. Will Trump win the next American election? Maybe, unless American liberals get a whole lot smarter than to think the working classes less significant than themselves. As a middle-class liberal, like yourself, I hope they do.

In France, the population could be divided for the last century as being in very approximate third’s. One part on the right, and it’s extreme right, fascistic, another socialist and the center “democratic”
In practice, whoever garnished support of the remaining 10% ruled France. Of course that is a gross oversimplification, I admit, but it does provide a way of understanding the worth of Trumps Xenophobic racist “Red-neck” base and the power of the Homophobic anti-abortion evangelicals working for God!
In the USA, as you correctly pointed out, families are often fiercely loyal to one party or another. The country is evenly split between those who vote Republican and those who always vote Democrat.
What counts then are the 10 percent who’s vote can swing according to the political tide of the year. Giant states like California, are already Democratic overwhelmingly.
Voting for either party doesn’t really influence the outcome of a Presidential election as we already have Democrats wielding our votes in the electoral college.
But small states are a special case. An intense campaign can shift a few districts and bring about a change. It so happens that Trumps base are in such states and reliably come out to vote.
With the Democrats trying to “bleed to death” Joe Biden, we could be left with Progressives who cannot beat Trump in the needed swing States as they are too threatening to Republican “swing voters” and anyway, Trumps base will be fully mobilized against them.
A Biden can get swing Republican Votes. A Bernie Sanders or Pamela Harris unlikely.
Meanwhile the “Tweets” and public statements by Trump against the arguably “Anti-American”, “anti-Israel” and increasingly “antisemetic” squad and the progressive wing, has the Democrats successfully labeled, (at the moment), as unacceptably left wing extremists!
So in the USA, those who regularly vote for either major party essentially don’t count. The election is decided by small numbers. That is where Trump has his power.
His bigotry is “red meat” avidly consumed by his base. Add to that his proven “keeping his Bargain” with God fearing Evangelists! Trump has already delivered two Supreme Court Justices to potentially rule in favor their allegiance to Biblical guidance for our laws. This means “protection of a fetus as a living person” and rolling back of gay marriage!
These two factors mean that intense efforts in swing states by these very motivated Trump supporters can help him extend his hold on the presidency.
As long as the economy continues to boom and he can stoke his tiny rabble base, the good manners and decency of 90% of the population is of no consequence!

Well this became a hot mess of wasps! Good thing we have freedom of speech .. it always helps people understand other people. Trump is evil and has nothing to do with religion. I was brought up Catholic and educated in Catholic school Dude you wanna talk about evil... there was alot and still is. I do not practice or follow and religious codes period. I have my own brain to work with and eyes to see! Trump is a pock on America plain and simple! Just yesterday in one of his racially fed rallies he had his crowd shouting Send her back so violently it scared the hell out of me just watching small parts of. She is the newly elected congress woman from Africa naturalized citizen . He spreads lies and hate about her and now his base is using it. This woman I hope has security around her for a long time husband and children as well . Hey tell what real male picks on a woman ?

Charlotte is actually very level headed and has left behind the nuns and their canes!
The “send her back” type xenophobic chants, by Trumps supporters in rallies, are generally followed by a racist violent act by some fringe fellow, motivated and empowered to act out on his marginal extremist disturbed mind. People die each time!
This was typical for Sir Oswald Mosley in his rabble-rousing emotional speeches in another fascistic era, in the U.K. it always happens! Speech is not free when it’s hate speech. There are domino consequences to the invective, releasing suppressed resentments and putting a target on the back of the “rats de jour”!
John McCain never allowed his supporters to hurl such invective against his dire political opponent, Barack Obama. He confronted his supporters that Obama was a loyal and patriotic American, he respected, but who he just happened to disagree with politically.
That’s the difference!
Michael, why is such a sliver of hateful people here so significant to us in here in the USA?
By leveraging a tiny fraction of the populace, we are split and it seems as if there is a ton of evil, an unstoppable mass movement! That is what the Trump effect is!
Actually there are more folk educated, less illiteracy, less murders and less wars each year. But still, we must call out this stirring up of invective against immigrants and minorities in so many countries.
In the USA, just to keep our economy going, we happen to need immigrants as we have N acute shortfall of 3,000,000 babies a year!

...and that is tragic! I hate the idea of abortions but would leave that very serious and hard decision to you and your wife....or the couple.
I would focus on providing free health care during pregnancy and would give $50,000 to every couple with a bachelors degree that have babies as that would enrich our work force with folk who would be more likely to go to college instead of jail. Second babies $100,000 as long as the first one was not in child custody services and has a pediatric attestation that it is being well cared for.
I wouldn’t as a physician do an abortion. Not that I find that the unborn fetus is a human, but it’s disrespectful to human life forms.
To me a child is a person once it's out of danger and born with a working brain!
They are as much part of our national resources as our borders and transportation system....
....and far more loveable!

I am looking at the issue from the terms of economics not politics.

I have utter faith in the basic goodness of most of us. The tilts to the right or left is only possible because most of us are set in our ways and simply have Teflon-coated points of view. So tiny fractions of “swing voters” have effects so disproportionate to their numbers.
Then the party that wins with essentially 50% of the vote and a feather of activists, claims they have a “mandate” of the populace as a whole!

It is when we cut others short of what they think then freedom of speech would become dead! America has the right to speak freely... humans have died for that right! every one has that that right. THE CHALLENGE FOR EACH OF US IS TO COME TOGETHER AS BEST WE CAN. I am a military mother. and I can tell you it is really hard, I understand most because of this and other families who serve the same.
